Renting How does renting on ThrottleShare work?
Browse a listing, read the owner's rules, choose dates, and send a booking request. The renter signs the waiver and submits payment through Stripe before the owner accepts. Once accepted, both sides coordinate the handoff, document pickup and return, and can review the experience after the booking is complete.
Renting What age, license, or experience do renters need?
You must be at least 18 to use ThrottleShare. The vehicle, location, and owner's rules may require a higher age, a driver's license, a motorcycle endorsement, a boating certificate, or prior experience. The owner records any visual credential check at pickup; ThrottleShare does not independently verify licenses or eligibility.
Renting Can an owner deliver the vehicle?
Delivery is owner-controlled. A listing may offer delivery, show a delivery fee and radius, or require pickup at the owner's location. Confirm the address, timing, and return plan in platform messages before the booking begins.
Owners & operators How do I list a vehicle as an owner or operator?
Create an owner account, add accurate vehicle details and current photos, set pricing, availability, rules, delivery, and deposit terms, then complete the owner and coverage attestations. Creating and publishing a listing has no monthly subscription. Owners remain responsible for the listing, vehicle condition, legal compliance, and coverage.
Owners & operators What does the owner control?
Owners set the listed rate, availability, renter requirements, delivery terms, and security deposit. Owners approve or decline booking requests and handle the physical handoff. Those controls do not mean ThrottleShare has inspected the vehicle or verified the owner, renter, credentials, or coverage.
Booking & payment When is a renter's payment charged?
The renter submits payment through Stripe before owner acceptance. The payment flow uses an authorization first and captures it after the owner accepts the booking. A pending card authorization is not the same as a completed booking. Stripe processes card details; ThrottleShare does not store the full card number on its servers.
Booking & payment What is included in the booking price?
The checkout total shows the owner-set rental rate, any cleaning or selected delivery fee, the renter service fee, and any tax the platform is registered to collect. A listed security deposit is disclosed separately and is not included in the checkout total. Confirm deposit collection and release terms with the owner before pickup.
Booking & payment How and when does an owner get paid?
Owners connect a Stripe Express account before accepting paid bookings. The owner payout is the listed rental rate plus disclosed owner fees; the renter-paid ThrottleShare service fee is added on top rather than deducted from that payout. Transfer timing depends on Stripe, the connected account, the owner's bank, and the booking's payment state.
Pickup, return & Trust Record What trust states are visible in the rental flow?
For a booking, the Trust Record can show the request timestamp, signed waiver, payment status, owner acceptance, owner-recorded visual credential check, confirmed rules, before photos, pickup, after photos, and return. It is an evidence timeline for the two booking participants, not a safety certificate or insurance record.
Pickup, return & Trust Record What should happen at pickup and return?
Before pickup, confirm the waiver, payment status, owner rules, allowed use, fuel or charge, included gear, return time, and any required credentials. Add clear before photos before the owner confirms pickup. At return, add after photos and notes before the owner confirms return. For an unsafe situation or emergency, stop and contact local emergency services first.
Pickup, return & Trust Record Does ThrottleShare inspect vehicles before rental?
No. ThrottleShare does not inspect, certify, maintain, or declare a vehicle safe. It also does not independently verify identity, age, licenses, endorsements, or insurance. The Trust Record preserves actions and materials submitted by booking participants, including an owner-recorded visual credential check.
Insurance limits Does ThrottleShare provide rental-period insurance?
No. ThrottleShare is a marketplace and does not sell, bind, underwrite, coordinate, or verify insurance for a rental. The current posture is owner-managed, bring-your-own coverage. A waiver, payment record, or Trust Record is not an insurance policy.
Insurance limits What must an owner confirm about coverage?
Before accepting a rental, the owner should ask their broker or carrier whether the policy permits rental-to-others activity for that vehicle and use. The owner sets any renter proof, deposit, license, and handoff requirements in the listing rules. ThrottleShare does not review the policy or confirm that coverage applies.
Insurance limits What must a renter confirm about coverage?
Before requesting or picking up a vehicle, the renter should ask their broker or carrier whether their policy applies to that rented vehicle class and use. Do not assume an auto, motorcycle, credit-card, or other policy applies. The renter must also follow the owner's stated requirements.
Damage & deposits How do security deposits work?
An owner may disclose a security deposit on the listing and booking. The deposit is not currently included in the Stripe checkout total, so both sides should agree in writing on collection, release, and any deduction terms before pickup. ThrottleShare does not decide whether a deduction is justified.
Damage & deposits Who decides responsibility for damage?
Handle immediate safety first and contact local emergency services when needed. Then notify the other booking participant, add clear photos and factual notes, keep communication in the platform, and email support with the booking ID. Owners and renters resolve condition and damage responsibility under their agreement and applicable law; ThrottleShare does not adjudicate it.
Cancellations How do cancellations and refunds work?
The dashboard allows an owner or renter to cancel while a booking is pending or confirmed. Before owner-confirmed pickup, the standard platform rule attempts to release an uncaptured authorization or create a full refund for a captured Stripe payment before recording the cancellation. Once pickup is confirmed and the trip is active, self-service cancellation is closed; contact support with the booking ID.
Account & privacy How do I update or delete my account?
Signed-in users can update profile details from Profile. Account deletion is also available from Profile, or you can use the public account deletion request page. For sign-in trouble that the available account tools do not resolve, email support from the address on the account.
Account & privacy How can I make a privacy or data request?
Use the public Privacy Request form to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or another available privacy action. ThrottleShare may need to confirm identity before acting. Stripe processes payment-card details; ThrottleShare does not store the full card number on its servers.
Partners & affiliates How can a business or travel partner work with ThrottleShare?
Partners can begin with a tracked market link or embeddable inventory surface. Limited, read-only API access is available for approved use cases as local inventory grows. Partners do not operate the listed vehicles through ThrottleShare; owners and operators keep control of pricing, rules, approval, pickup, and return.
Partners & affiliates How does the affiliate program work?
Approved affiliates receive a tracked referral link. Eligible completed bookings may create a commission under the current Affiliate Program Terms, after refunds, chargebacks, account standing, and payout thresholds are considered. Participation does not guarantee traffic, bookings, or earnings.
Support How do I contact ThrottleShare support?
Email [email protected]. For a booking issue, include the booking ID, the email on your account, a short factual timeline, and any relevant screenshots or photos. Keep owner-renter communication in platform messages when possible so the conversation remains available to both parties.
Support What should I do in an emergency or urgent safety situation?
Stop using the vehicle and contact local emergency services first. Once the immediate situation is handled, notify the other booking participant and email ThrottleShare support with the booking ID and a factual account. The platform is not an emergency-response service.
