How to Write a Rental Listing That Gets Booked
Your listing description is a 30-second sales pitch. Here's how to write one that converts.
The direct answer:
A strong powersports rental listing description covers: (1) the specific machine with year, make, model, and condition, (2) what's included (helmets, gear, accessories), (3) local terrain and trail recommendations specific to your area, (4) your experience requirements if any, and (5) why renters should book this machine over alternatives. Specific beats generic — "2022 Can-Am Maverick X3 MAX Turbo RR, 195hp, full roll cage, 4 seats" outperforms "runs great, well maintained."
The Listing Description Formula
Structure your description in this order:
Opening line — the machine
"2022 Can-Am Maverick X3 MAX Turbo RR — 195hp, 4 seats, full cage, 32" tires. One of the most capable side-by-sides available anywhere in southern Utah."
Condition + maintenance
"Serviced on schedule by the dealer. Previous renters have 0 reported issues. Machine is ready to run all day."
What's included
"Includes 4 helmets, goggles, tow strap, first aid kit, and printed trail map for the area."
Local knowledge
"10 minutes from Cliffhanger trail. 20 minutes from Fins and Things. I can recommend the best routes for your skill level."
What Not to Write
These phrases kill conversions because they're present in every listing and mean nothing:
- ✗ "Runs great"
- ✗ "Well maintained"
- ✗ "Fun for the whole family"
- ✗ "Contact me with questions"
Replace every vague phrase with a specific fact. "Well maintained" → "Dealer-serviced at 100hr intervals, oil and filter changed before every rental."
